Independence Day Celebration
Independence Day Celebration was held on August 14, 2005 at St. Paul’s Church, Ghamapur. On this occasion the budding writers and correspondents of the community presented patriotic songs, ghazals and poems.
Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday
Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday was celebrated jointly by CWF and United Christian Educational Forum, M. P. On the morning of October 2, 2006, the day’s programme began with the garlanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at the Bajanamath leprosy asylum by Dominic Nazareth. Sr. Anita offered prayers on this occasion. Coordinator of CWF and United Christian Educational Forum, Mr. Francis Joseph announced that the members of the two associations were gathered together on the auspicious day of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri to distribute food and provisions to the inmates of the ashram who had been abandoned by members of their own families. Yet they are the children of God who is the lord and God of all orphans, widows and poor. He has promised to lift them up and place them on high. President of CWF, Rev. P. B. Lal said that Mahatma Gandhi emulated the teachings of Jesus Christ and made invaluable contribution to the entire world. Rev. Lal quoted extensively from the scriptures and exhorted his listeners to lead an exemplary life and devote themselves to acts of mercy and charity. Director of ‘Jogini’, Fr. Benjamin Francis spoke with 26 lepers individually offering them consolation and assurance of continuous support. Sr. Anita, Sr. Mamta, Sr. Martha of St. Joseph’s Convent presented inspiring religious hymns on this occasion. Thereafter the office bearers of the two associations distributed food and provisions. Each packet contained 1 kg. rice, 1 kg. flour, 1/2 kg. rahar daal, 1/2 kg. sugar, ¼ kg. tea leaves, ¼ kg. ‘Rath’ dalda and a cake of soap. Having received the articles the faces of leprosy patients brightened up immeasurably.
In the evening members of CWF visited the Home for the Aged. Here Mr. Sunil Samuel garlanded the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. Miss Margaret Joseph read a passage from the Holy Bible. In his address A. K. Charles emphasized the need of becoming like children if one wanted to enter heaven. Shakuntala Martin, Manager of Christian High School offered prayers. Thereafter on behalf of CWF 61 inmates of the home were served food. Stanley Norbert, S. P. Pillai, Mrs. Veronica Daniel, A. K. Charles, Sunil Samuel, Dominic Nazareth, Amelia Nazareth,
Mrs. Nazareth, Edward Anthony, Dimpy Anthony, Miss Margaret Joseph, Mrs. Angela Joseph, Mrs. Martin, V. Varghese, Mrs. Varghese, Rev. P. B. Lal, Shailendra Singh and twenty five youth rendered much required assistance to make the event a memorable success.
The third venue of the day’s programme was St. Augustine Old Age Home at Pentinaka. Here the members of CWF served food to six old inmates and distributed similar packets of provision. The (lay ended with thanks giving and the exhortation of Mr. Stanley Norbert who maintained that there would be no need of homes for the aged if people took loving care of their aged parents. The example left behind by Mahatma Gandhi is there for all to follow.

They were greeted with love of us on 2 Oct. 2007. We will see happiness and satisfaction in the eyes of lepers of khurst ashram run by Indian Redcross Society in Bajnamath. These lepers are living alone away from the city. Many people came to meet them. On the occasion of International Non Violence day. MP-CG Christian Writers’ Forum and United Christian Educational Forum members have a time with them and also distributed the daily use commodities like food materials and fruits to them. CWF organises welfare programme for elderly
2 October 2009 on the birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi, Christians Writers fourm (CWF) organised a social welfare programme at the old age home situated at tilwara road and leprosy ashram, Bajnamath on friday morning, members of the Forum Shared meal with elderly people and also distributed bed sheets to around 20 leprosy patients in bajaamath ashram.
President of the Forum, Rev. P.B. Lal said that this day is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, the proponent of non-violence and the one who conquered all with love and peace.
